You sent your hydraulic pump in for repair. Or maybe you ordered a remanufactured motor or a replacement valve assembly. Either way, at some point the question comes up: what happens if something goes wrong after you get it back?
It’s a fair question — and one that doesn’t always get a straight answer in this industry. Precision Fluid Power has a written warranty policy that covers repairs, new units, & remanufactured components. We’re going to walk through exactly what it says, what it covers, and where the boundaries are, so you know what to expect before you ever need to use it.
The 2-Year Warranty: What It Covers
Every product PFP sells or repairs comes with a 2-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship, starting from the date of delivery. That’s not a limited coverage window tucked into the fine print — it’s a flat two years across the board.
The warranty covers the full range of hydraulic components PFP works on: pumps, motors, valves, cylinders. Whether you shipped in a piston pump for a full rebuild or ordered a remanufactured hydraulic motor, the same 2-year coverage applies. Hydraulic valve units get warranted as new, and PFP offers same-day service on valve repairs, which is important when a valve failure is holding up an entire operation.
What the warranty is really saying is that PFP stands behind the quality of its work. Every unit gets tested before it ships. The testing process exists because a unit that leaves the facility should perform the way it’s supposed to — and if it doesn’t due to a defect in materials or workmanship, PFP takes responsibility for it.
Two years is a meaningful window for hydraulic repair work. A lot can happen to a hydraulic system in that time, and having documented coverage gives you real recourse if a workmanship issue surfaces down the road.
What Voids the Warranty
Our warranty coverage is solid, but there are conditions that will void it, and they’re worth knowing upfront.
If anyone other than Precision Fluid Power disassembles or attempts to repair the unit after it leaves our facility, the warranty will be void. That includes your in-house maintenance crew, a local shop, or anyone else. The logic is straightforward: PFP can’t warranty work we didn’t do or inspect.
Beyond that, failures caused by misuse, abuse, neglect, accident, or tampering are excluded. A hydraulic pump that gets run dry, overpressurized, or used outside its intended application won’t be covered — that’s a use problem, not a workmanship problem.
The other condition worth paying attention to: the unit must be operated according to the original manufacturer’s specifications. Run it outside those specs and the warranty is null and void.
None of these exclusions are unusual for the industry. They exist to draw a clear line between a failure that originated in the repair work and one that originated in how the unit was used after the fact. If you have questions about what your specific unit’s operating specs are, we can walk you through it before the unit even ships back to you.
How to File a Warranty Claim
If you believe your unit has a defect covered under warranty, the first step is contacting us to get a Return Goods Authorization number — referred to as an RGA#. You’ll need that number before you send anything back.
Once you have the RGA#, ship the unit to our facility in Oklahoma City, freight prepaid. That means return shipping is on you to get the unit to us. From there, our team inspects it to determine whether the issue falls under warranty coverage.
If it does, we repair or replace the unit at no charge. If a replacement isn’t possible — say, the unit is obsolete or a direct replacement isn’t available — we issue full credit instead. You’re not left empty-handed either way.
A couple of things to keep in mind: reference the RGA# on your return shipment, and the RGA# is valid for 30 days, so don’t sit on it. Getting us the unit promptly keeps the process moving.
The whole claim process comes down to a few steps: call us, get your RGA#, ship the unit back freight prepaid, & let our team take it from there. Reach us at 800-728-5168 or sales@precisionfluidpower.com.
Returning Non-Defective Components
Warranty claims and returns for non-defective components are two different processes, and it’s worth understanding how the latter works before you need it.
If you need to return an unused, non-defective unit, contact our sales department within 10 days of receiving it. That 10-day window is firm, so don’t wait. We’ll issue you an RGA#, which is valid for 30 days from the date it’s issued. Get the unit back to us within that window.
One thing to factor into your decision: up to a 50% restocking charge applies to non-defective returns. If the unit has been painted, an additional restocking charge will be applied on top of that. Returns are accepted freight prepaid, same as warranty claims.
Packaging is important here, too. All ports must be capped before the unit ships — contamination entering the unit during transit is a real concern and affects whether the return gets accepted. Sub-assemblies should be bagged or boxed separately to prevent damage in transit. Every return needs to include a packing list that references the RGA#.
Why a 2-Year Warranty Separates Us From the Pack
Two years of coverage on hydraulic repair work is genuinely strong. A lot of shops in this industry offer far less — or nothing in writing at all. Our warranty applies consistently across pumps, motors, valves, & cylinders, whether we repaired your unit or sold you a remanufactured one. The terms don’t shift depending on what you ordered. Customers often report that the two-year warranty at Precision Fluid Power is one of the biggest reasons they keep coming back. When you know exactly what you’re covered for and for how long, there’s a lot less guesswork in the relationship.
